BENZYLBORONIC ACID PINACOL ESTER is a boronic ester that is used in organic synthesis as an efficient method for the introduction of carbon. It reacts with nucleophiles such as ammonia and hydroxide ion to form enamines via an electrophilic addition reaction. This compound can also be used in cross-coupling reactions to form carbon bonds. BENZYLBORONIC ACID PINACOL ESTER has been shown to have antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It activates toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) which is involved in the inflammatory response. Picolinic acid is a metabolite of 2BDTBDO that inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX).
